Look. I'm not going to lie to you, the situation with this kulfi is that is is DELICIOUS, but...it takes such a long time to make, and it's not like you can walk away from it. You have to keep stirring it - every few minutes. So, I have two suggestions - make this on a lazy weekend and plan to make a bunch of other recipes while doing this, so you feel better about being in the kitchen (or very near the kitchen) for three hours.
However, if you decide to put the time into this dessert, you will be richly rewarded!
I made this an ovaltine kulfi, because it was one of my favorite recipes at a restaurant where we used to live - the restaurant's recipe was more like a cake and this is definitely closer to ice cream, though. Kulfi is more traditionally made with pistachios, rose, or mangoes. It's a popular dessert from the Indian subcontinent that is dense and creamy.
I hope you're having a wonderful week and that you enjoy this delicious kulfi recipe!
